Job Offer

Our lab is always looking to hire talented and motivated students and scientists at all stages of their careers. If you are interested in our work, please get in touch, even if you don’t see a suitable vacancy posted below.

A 3-year postdoc position is available in Paris or Grenoble to reconstitute the contractile dynamic steady-states of acto-myosin networks.

Reconstituted acto-myosin networks in vitro can contract but only once. They don’t keep on reassembling and contracting as they do in cells. Recently we identified conditions allowing contractile acto-myosin networks to contract steadily for hours (Sciortino et al., BioRxiv, 2025). We now seek to encapsulate these constantly contracting networks in vesicle and link them to vesicle environment to study their impact on the shape and motion of the vesicles.

We have received a highly selective grant from the ANR (Chaire d’Excellence France 2030) to work on this challenge. We are looking for candidates with excellent experimental skills, a solid background in handling purified proteins for reconstitution of cytoskeletal networks in vitro, and strong experience in microscopy. Candidates should also have a deep interest in studying the biophysical properties of cells and active mater.

Our research units in the center of Paris at the Institut Pierre Gilles De Gennes, or close to the Alpes at Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Grenoble have both access to outstanding microfabrication and imaging platforms.
Students and scientists working with us will have a unique opportunity to be part of an internationally renowned team, working in demanding but creative and lively environment.

Motivated candidates are encouraged to apply by sending their CV and motivation letter to Laurent Blanchoin (laurent.blanchoin@cnrs.fr) and Manuel Thery (manuel.thery@cea.fr). They should also ask their former supervisors to send honest and personal letters of recommendation directly to Laurent and Manuel.
